University of Roehampton

University of Roehampton is a modern public university located in southwest London on a 54‑acre parkland campus. It’s known for its collegiate system (four historic colleges dating from the 1840s–1890s), strong student support, professional placements on nearly all courses, and a campus-community atmosphere close to central London.

Origins trace back to four women’s teacher training colleges – Whitelands (1841), Southlands (1872), Digby Stuart (1874), Froebel (1892). These merged in 1976 to form Roehampton Institute of Higher Education, and it gained university status as Roehampton University in 2004.

Ranked 93rd in the UK (Complete University Guide 2025) and 801–1000 globally (THE World Rankings 2025). Noted for a 93% graduate employment rate within six months, high student satisfaction (8th in England NSS 2024), and is the UK’s joint top modern university for REF 2021 research impact.
